Instructor

instructorDean Vogel and Aero Technical Institute are the main training arm of Lockwood Aviation Repair.  In addition, Dean is a key member of the technical support staff.   Here is a brief biography:

Dean is a 1982 graduate of the USAF Academy. He spent a total of 14 years in the Air Force maintaining and flying jets.

After leaving the Air Force, Dean joined Cirrus Design Corp. and spent 13 years helping to take the company from 10 employees to 850. While there he led the company’s interface with all the technology players that resulted in the runaway success that Cirrus’ product enjoys.

Dean Vogel is an excellent instructor who is patient with questions
and harassment. I would feel confident working on 912’s after this course.
Much good info and tricks of trade beyond “book learning”.

Dean teamed with Lockwood Aviation Repair in 2006 to develop training aimed at the Light Sport market, drawing upon the company’s tremendous experience with maintaining and overhauling the Rotax engines.  He is a natural in the classroom and enjoys nothing more than helping people understand key information upon which he knows their life may depend. Dean holds licenses as a CFI and ATP, and has thus far provided formal instruction for more than 300 owners and maintainers on Rotax aircraft engines.
